Ethiopia’s Worknesh Mesele qualified for the women’s 800m semi-finals with a time of 1:58.07 at the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning Heat 3 as she begins her bid for a maiden Olympic gold medal. Teammate Tsige Duguma posted the fastest time in Heat 5, finishing in 1:57.90, ahead of Kenya’s Mary Moraa, the reigning world champion, who clocked 1:57.95. Duguma, who won gold at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, showcased her form with a commanding performance.
