Art of Ethiopia opens this weekend

The eighth edition of Art of Ethiopia exhibition will be held this weekend. One of the big events in the calendar of Ethiopian art in Addis, the Sheraton annual contemporary art exhibition will open on December 11 at the Sheraton Addis hotel Lalibela ballroom. Held over a period of four days, it is an opportunity for Ethiopian artists, young or more established, to display and sell their work. This year the exhibit will showcase 50 artists spanning three generations, 34 of whom are new to this event.
The event has grown steadily since it opened in 2008 and it is becoming an annual fixture for both the art connoisseur and the arts-curious. This year, organizers expect to bring even more visitors to the event. A catalog of the art works on display featuring biographies of each artist will be available for sale. Proceeds from the sale of these catalogs will go to the Sheraton Addis Art Endowment Fund, set up to support art initiatives in Ethiopia, the Hotel announced.
The show runs for 4 days until Dec 14th inclusive, from 10 am till 10 pm daily. Entrance is free.
